Transforming Cost and Carbon Estimating in Construction

About Sterling DCS

At Sterling, we are dedicated to driving innovation through our advanced SaaS platform, designed specifically for cost and carbon estimating in construction

Our solution is built to deliver precise, resource-based estimates rather than relying on high-level assumptions, ensuring that projects are accurately budgeted, environmentally conscious, and efficiently managed. We are proud to serve as a trusted partner for construction professionals seeking to optimise their workflows and meet industry standards for sustainability and financial management.

Our Modules:

Cost and Carbon Estimating: Sterling provides resource-based cost and carbon estimates that reflect the true requirements of each project, down to the smallest detail. Our platform integrates seamlessly with 2D and 3D take-off tools, enabling precise quantities to be extracted directly from design files. Whether it’s plant, labour, materials, or subcontract resources, Sterling’s detailed breakdowns give users a comprehensive view of project costs and carbon impacts, empowering them to make informed decisions that align with both financial goals and sustainability targets.

Take-Off Capabilities (included in Core): Our take-off solution supports both 2D and 3D file formats including PDFs, DWG, IFC, RVT, and more, allowing users to extract quantities from their drawings and models with ease. Sterling integrates these quantities into your cost and carbon estimates, simplifying the process and eliminating the need for multiple platforms. Our embedded viewer links models, take-off data, and cost estimates, enabling users to visualise how every element of the project is connected.

Package Management: With Sterling’s Package Manager, users can create distinct work packages and send them to subcontractors for pricing and carbon estimates via an online portal. This feature streamlines collaboration and ensures that all stakeholders are working with up-to-date, accurate data. Subcontractors can submit their bids directly through the portal, and users can compare submitted quotes, spread rates, and even use artificial bidders based on high, low, and average rates. This enables efficient decision-making and ensures that cost estimates are regularly updated with real-time data.

Lifecycle Management: Sterling’s Lifecycle Management module is fully aligned with NRM3 and ICMS, providing a structured approach to cost planning across the entire lifecycle of a construction project. Our platform allows users to manage costs from the design and construction phases through to operation, maintenance, and end-of-life, ensuring that projects are planned with long-term sustainability and cost-effectiveness in mind. By incorporating lifecycle costing methodologies and carbon reporting guidelines, Sterling helps users maintain transparency and accountability at every stage of the project.

Our commitment to industry standards

Sterling is committed to providing construction professionals with the tools they need to deliver projects that comply with industry standards for cost and carbon management. Our platform integrates key frameworks such as ICMS 3, NRM3, and BS EN 15978, ensuring that users can rely on proven methodologies to develop accurate, consistent cost estimates. We also adhere to international standards for carbon reporting and lifecycle analysis, enabling clients to track and reduce their carbon footprints effectively.

Collaboration and integration

Sterling integrates seamlessly with other industry-leading platforms, enabling users to connect their cost and carbon data with existing workflows. Our partnerships with solutions like Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, Building Transparency’s EC3 Tool, and Microsoft Power BI allow for a unified approach to construction estimating and project management. These integrations enable users to manage cost, carbon, and lifecycle data within a single, user-friendly platform, streamlining collaboration and improving project outcomes.
