Learn how AECOM onboarded Bluebeam to streamline communication and efficiency for the Austin Independent School District (AISD) $1bn bond programme
In 2017, the citizens of Austin, Texas, passed a $1bn bond programme to build and modernize 20 schools for the Austin Independent School District (AISD).
With a tight, five-year target timeline, various project stakeholders and high public expectations, AECOM was tapped to manage the bond programme, from design to pre-construction, construction and closeout.
All told, the endeavour would entail 1.75m gross square feet of new construction, 230,000 gross square feet of renovation and 590,000 gross square feet of demolition.
AECOM streamlined communication with Bluebeam
AECOM turned to Bluebeam to streamline communication and efficiency on multiple aspects of the project.
It used Studio Sessions, Bluebeam’s real-time collaboration capability, to coordinate and manage everything from design reviews to cost management and contractor scheduling.
As the team got deeper and deeper into Bluebeam, it found more uses for the project, which AECOM was able to deliver on time thanks to the efficiencies gained by using the software.
The firm completed over 100 cost estimate reviews with Bluebeam Studio Sessions
Bluebeam Studio Sessions allowed AECOM to streamline more than 100,000 comments across upwards of 400 collaborators.
Sessions also allowed the firm to complete over 100 cost estimate reviews and 45 contract amendment reviews.
Thanks to Bluebeam, AECOM was able to successfully deliver on the 2017 bond programme, contributing to the proposal—and passing—of a new, $2.4bn bond programme, in which AECOM will continue its partnership with AISD.
