Construction materials provider Breedon has been transformed by switching to paperless processes with Re-flow field management software

Breedon are a leading construction materials group operating across Great Britain, Ireland, and the USA. The company provide essential materials necessary for building residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects, and boast a diverse portfolio of over 100 quarries, over 50 asphalt plants, more than 160 ready-mixed concrete plants, and two cement plants.

Beyond their significant materials production, Breedon provide services in contract surfacing, highway maintenance, and on-site batching and concrete supply. They have over 4,500 employees, over 200 vehicles and pieces of plant, and have a turnover in excess of £1.4bn.

Breedon’s surfacing division faced challenges with inefficient paper-based processes, delays in data access, and high administrative costs. With Re-flow, they’ve significantly enhanced their operational efficiency.

Having seen impressive growth over their 14 years in business, Breedon’s surfacing division faced significant operational hurdles that hindered efficiency and productivity. National managing quantity surveyor, Iain Johnston went into more detail: ‘We had challenges relating to paperwork coming in from our operations. Our surfacing operations are spread across Great Britain, so the time taken for individuals to travel hundreds of miles to information being sent through the postal service made it difficult to react to challenges.’

‘Four years ago we started looking into how we were going to digitise our operations.’

Re-flow: the perfect field management software for enterprise companies

The surfacing department looked at other packages, but because it offered them everything they needed in one place, they decided to press ahead with Re-flow.

‘It was instantly recognisable that Re-flow was a great fit for our business,’ Iain Johnston said.
