The Digital Cube is a collaborative workspace that brings digital technology to the coalface of construction projects
Global virtual design and construction consultant Digital Construction Technologies was engaged by international firm Collen Construction to develop the concept of the Digital Cube to bring the latest state-of-the-art hardware and software to develop the latest on-site technology.
The cube integrates hardware, software, and processes to enable the collaborative space to be embedded on site, allowing the amalgamation of the power of BIM project delivery with solutions-focused strategic planning. The Digital Cube has allowed Collen to bring collaborative planning, digital coordination and real-time information to the fingertips of project delivery teams in the field.
The implementation of the Digital Cube has brought a number of benefits for Collen, including a reduction in time away from the worksite and increased output from project teams. This has been realised by enhancing KPIs, optimising and assuring quality, steadfasting safety through collaboration and fast-tracking the multidisciplinary execution process.
A collaborative and functional space

The Digital Cube has been nominated in the Innovation in Construction category in the Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2020, which will take place on 28 March.
