Skanska’s all-electric 105 Victoria Street development in central London is seeing the first UK use of Schindler’s Robotic Installation System for Elevators (Schindler RISE)
The project sees the UK debut of one of only five Robotic Installation System for Elevators (Schindler RISE), a self-climbing robot designed to manoeuvre itself within a lift shaft to install elevator components.
Schindler RISE can drill holes and install anchor bolts with precision and speed, transferring the dangerous and monotonous task from the human workforce to an automated process, which can work around the clock. Instead, a human operator monitors the robot’s movements with a remote-control panel.
The 105 Victoria Street development is the UK’s largest fully electric, net-zero carbon office development. Developed by real estate investment manager BGO and main contractor Skanska, work is due to complete in 2026.
Skanska are embracing new technologies
