In his latest episode of Collaboration Corner, Rhys Lewis is onsite with client Bouygues UK at Pencoedtre High in Barry, to talk about the benefits of Revizto software

This episode of collaboration corner kicks off with Revizto director Rhys Lewis, who is onsite with client Bouygues UK at Pencoedtre High, Barry.

Pencoedtre High is a £35m, BIM Level 2 project, which is faced with the challenge of an existing school onsite that remained open during the construction process.

Bouygues is using Revizto in Region 1 of the construction process and tells Rhys the benefits that they are seeing from the software.

About the project

Lewis firstly meets with regional BIM and information manager Ian Massey. He asks him about his role at Bouygues UK and the work the team have been doing at Pencoedtre High School.

Massey said: “I’ve worked for the whole supply chain, from designer, consultant, and contractor, so I have a good understanding of all of the different aspects of the design and construction process.

“Pencoedtre High School is a £35m project located in Barry and is working with an existing school onsite.

“It is a BIM Level 2 development, so we have complexities from digital to site and a lot of challenges. We have a really great team who have worked on the project all the way through.”

Bouygues are using Revizto in other parts of the business, but this is the first project in this region of the UK.

Revizto enables everyone to come to the discussion table

Massey added: “We’ve learned from the benefits of what others have done within the company with Revizto, as well as the rest of the industry.

We chose the platform because before we were working with silo BIM software, where high-spec laptops and so forth were required.

“Revizto gives us a very user-friendly, collaborative BIM environment, where everyone can come to the table of discussion about design, development, construction, and BIM. It consolidates everything in one place.”

Coordinated builders’ work and fire protection

Talking about how Revizto can be used as an issue tracking tool, Lewis asks Massey how the software can be used to ensure coordinated builders’ work and as a fire protection tool: “Builders work from a construction point of view is a really hot topic, to do with fire protection as well.

“Ensuring we have coordinated builders’ work and that the services and fire protection are aligned. Revizto Stamps help us align this with our BIM process, track each individual builder’s word object, ensure it’s been reviewed and approved and export real-time reports.”

Massay added: “The user-friendliness of the software is the biggest benefit. Colleagues with limited training are able to come in and learn. Feedback from designers and people within the supply chain has all said that it is a really beneficial tool to assist the process of design and construction.

“We’re learning along the process, which is what BIM is all about. With regards to the future, and how we’re using these tools, we’re rolling Revizto out on every project that we’re now getting within the region, and Bouygues UK as well.”
