Civil engineering practice Perega is celebrating securing the ISO 19650:2:2018 certification, after an 18 month internal review process
Following assessment by global insurance partner LQRA, Perega is being awarded the ISO 19650:2:2018 certification for BIM.
The award comes after a gap analysis, internal workflow review and rigorous two-day assessment.
The certification relates to information management using BIM
The ISO 19650 framework, which is the international standard for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using building information modelling (BIM), was first launched in 2018.
The framework is now made up of five parts, with part-2 specifically setting out the process for the management and collaborative production of information during the delivery phase of assets.
ISO 19650:2:2018 specifies requirements for information management, in the form of a management process, within the context of the delivery phase of assets and the exchanges of information within it, using BIM.
In line with a drive throughout the industry towards achieving regulatory compliance, Perega aims to focus on continuous improvement for managing risk, and meeting the needs and expectations of its customers and other interested parties.
The company kick-started the accreditation project by conducting a gap analysis in July 2021, appraising its processes across the board and evaluating the necessary changes needed to improve efficiency and ultimately, achieve the international ISO standard.
Perega’s BIM management team then put together a working group across multiple offices, who spent the next 18 months reviewing workflows and implementing changes, where needed, in order to comply with the standard.
The rigorous assessment process, led by LQRA, took place over two days, and Perega officially achieved certification to ISO 19650-2:2018 in February.
Securing ISO 19650-2:2018 is necessary in an increasingly competitive industry
Perega’s Group BIM manager Mark Asplin, said: “ISO 19650-2:2018 is a fantastic accomplishment and one that links in with our core values as a business. To be successful in such a competitive environment, we must be fully committed to innovation and consistent with improvement. By looking closely at our processes and making sure they add value to the organisation, we can ensure our clients receive the best service.
“The demand for accreditations is rising across the industry, so realising this certification will ultimately set us apart from our peers.”
