The digital building manual solutions provider Createmaster has recently worked with Zutec to create a new digital retrofit solution to improve buildings safety compliance

Createmaster focuses on asset owners and building duty holders. Their goal is to consolidate building information from higher-risk buildings (HRBs) that are currently dispersed across various sources.

This information is processed through a Zutec platform. Zutec is a member of the BuildData Group, a collection of software and service-based companies. They aim to help stakeholders extract meaningful value from project and asset information across the entire building lifecycle.

Zutec enabled Createmaster to make a user-friendly dashboard that allows for the effective management of important documents and data related to HRBs.

How does the digital retrofit solution work?

The Createmaster team processes, structures, and categorises information into a flexible and industry-proven template. This ensures consistency in information and facilitates the creation of a building safety case. Createmaster users can demonstrate building safety compliance ahead of deadlines. They can also easily provide key building information to the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) by the end of September.

“With huge volumes of information and documentation for legacy building stock all over the place — so disparate systems, formats, and states of completeness and quality,” said James Cannon, commercial director at Createmaster.

“Preparing for building safety obligations can be lengthy and difficult for the majority of asset owners and duty holders. Building Safety Act requirements now stipulate that HRBs are not just registered with the BSR by the end of September. Still, key building information is provided within 28 days of a building being registered to demonstrate and evidence building safety and BSA compliance,” he continued.

Making building safety companies an easier operation

The Zutec platform serves as the foundation for building safety compliance in the asset lifecycle. Its features make it easy to identify any missing documents or gaps in data. It also allows users to edit or add information where necessary. This ensures that all information is up-to-date, and changes are tracked for auditing purposes.

Platform permissions can be granted to stakeholders, such as internal building safety compliance teams, third-party consultants, or the Building Safety Regulator (BSR). Additionally, the platform’s accessibility can streamline the handover process when transferring a building to facility management.

“We take the pain out of digital retrofitting building stock and putting data in one place for document management, and tenant communication. Only when you can fully understand building risk through accessible information can you put adequate measures and controls in place to ensure building safety, while supporting building safety compliance and the path to golden thread,” concluded Cannon.
