Ratio EV Charging is a joint investment between FW Thorpe Plc and Ratio Electric in the Netherlands.
FW Thorpe specialise in professional lighting for both indoor and outdoor commercial settings. Ratio utilised the existing technologies and expertise within the Group to transition the car park lighting pillars into EV charging pillars.

How does the io7 charging pillar align with environmental initiatives and contribute to reducing carbon emissions?
Ratio, part of the FW Thorpe Group of companies, is committed to minimising its activities’ environmental impact.
The Group has been carbon neutral since 2012 with a goal to reach net-zero in 2040. Ultimately every product designed and manufactured across the Group must continue to contribute towards this target.
The io7 charging pillar is manufactured at the Ratio factory in Redditch in the Midlands. In 2023 solar photovoltaic (PV) units were installed to harness as much natural energy as possible.
The power generated by the PV is distributed across the business providing power to the plant and the machinery used to produce the io7.
In addition to this we aim to ensure that the carbon footprint of the materials of the io7 is as low as possible. The majority of the parts are from within the UK, with the castings and extrusions sourced from within a 30 mile radius of the plant.

Manufactured to high standards at the factory in Redditch, it has also been BSi Kitemark certified.

The io7 comes with a high-performance built-in illuminated head for general area lighting, meaning it can be incorporated into the site’s overall exterior lighting solution.
The low-glare hidden lighting compartment also produces less than 2% upward light, ensuring it complies with light pollution requirements.
The io7 also offers the end user complete control and flexibility via the Ratio for Business back-office management system. Data and payment options can be easily customised and managed via a single software platform.
