J3 Advisory has been instructed by Tribe, the London and Southeast-focused student housing developer, to place the structural warranty on their £60m PBSA scheme at Old Kent Road

The 7000m2 Southwark student accommodation scheme is scheduled to be completed in March 2024 and will provide 267 student bed spaces.

The development will top out at around 10 to 12 storeys and will include 257 sqm of retail/restaurant space at ground floor level, as well as a new, publicly accessible 373m2 pocket park.

The Old Kent Road development is part of a wider regeneration of the area

The proposed Southwark PBSA project will cater to students studying in the area at the University of the Arts, King’s College London and London South Bank University.

Wider plans to redevelop the Old Kent Road area include three new schools, creating new arts and cultural spaces and co-locating nurseries and older people’s accommodation to promote intergenerational learning and health.

Tribe director Laurence Quail said, “This development will provide much-needed student accommodation for some of the capital’s largest universities. The Old Kent Road is undergoing significant redevelopment and this scheme is part of a wider programme that will upgrade the area.”

The UK is a  “top destination” for international students

J3 director Johnny Leadsom added, “We believe the U.K. is and will continue to be one of the top educational destinations for international students. The student housing market offers very compelling investment opportunities with long-term stable returns, and we look forward to supporting property developers, investment funds, and other associated professionals in the sector.”

Senior development manager Toby Mills further added, ‘Johnny immediately put our team at ease with his professional and detailed approach to our building warranty insurance requirement. We were pleased that he could manage the expectations of all the stakeholders involved and get the policy in place so efficiently.’
