Five HS2 workers have been injured and hospitalized in a Northolt lift shaft incident in London
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 10 AM on Saturday 26 August 2023, with the group of HS2 workers rescued around an hour later at 11 AM. Roads were closed during the rescue.
The operatives supporting the construction of the Northolt vent shaft were treated for minor cuts and bruising at the scene and then taken to hospital.

Skanska Costain Strabag JV is responsible for the design and construction of the Northolt HS2 site
The Northolt Tunnel is 13.5km (8.4 miles) long and will carry passengers from Old Oak Common station to West Ruislip.
The tunnel will be constructed using four tunnel boring machines (TBMs) in two phases, known as ‘Northolt Tunnel West’ and ‘Northolt Tunnel East’.
Joint venture Skanska Costain Strabag JV are also responsible for the design and construction of the Mandeville Road ventilation shaft and headhouse in Northolt.
