AtkinsRéalis won two awards at the recent Education Estates ceremony in Manchester on October 17

The engineering and project management company won the ‘Consultancy of the Year’ award and the ‘Project of the Year’ prize at the annual event hosted by the Department for Education event.

The award show acknowledged that AtkinsRéalis demonstrated exceptional contributions to the education sector. Education Estates rewarded the company for leading diverse teams and effectively contributing to the successful development of award-winning educational facilities.

Supporting the education sector

In 2023, AtkinsRéalis underwent significant growth in the national education sector, providing multi-disciplinary services to over 600 education clients.

Their Project & Programme Services division completed 445 education projects during this period, creating 19,000 new student placements.

These placements included 6,000 places for students with special educational needs and improved classroom conditions for over 27,000 students and staff.

“Working on such an amazing portfolio of education projects with our industry partners is a massive privilege,” said National Education Sector lead, Marcus Lyon.

“To win the Consultancy of the Year award is a true testament to our commitment to drive high quality and innovative outcomes to help change the lives of thousands of young people through more sustainable and inspirational learning environments,” he continued.

AtkinsRéalis has provided net zero support

AtkinsRéalis has supported the UK Central and Local Government, DFE, and Salix in improving project delivery and addressing Net Zero challenges. They have helped to deliver over 350 Net Zero Roadmaps for schools and universities.

Over the past 16 years, AtkinsRéalis has led technical services for Birmingham City University’s capital investments. In the last 18 months, their education team achieved over 40% growth, with a £75m fee value and £2.5bn in capital projects.

They were awarded Consultancy of the Year and Project of the Year – Universities for STEAMhouse, an innovation centre at Birmingham City University.
