Mace has introduced a new Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy, which they plan to implement over the next three years

The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy outlines specific goals aimed at making Mace the most inclusive employer in the construction industry.

In the three years since the launch of its initial Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy, Mace has made substantial progress in diversifying its workforce and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.

Building on this, the company is now setting even more ambitious objectives. Mace are aiming to attract, develop, and retain a diverse pool of employees, create a psychologically safe environment for all employees, and improve diversity in leadership roles.

Mace want to add more women in senior roles

Mace has set several key diversity targets to be completed by the end of 2026. This includes having over 25% of senior-level colleagues as women and ensuring that at least 30% of attendees at board meetings are women, with an additional 10% representation from underrepresented ethnic groups.

Mace wants to become the first construction company to collaborate with its strategic supply chain partners to promote diversity and encourage partners to adopt their own Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategies.

It is hoped that this collaboration will inspire innovative solutions for addressing diversity challenges by creating connections across the industry.

More targets for the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion strategy

Mace has set the following specific targets for the next three years:

  • Increase the representation of women in their global workforce to a minimum of 35%.
  • Raise the representation of employees with disabilities by at least 3%.
  • Boost the representation of LGBTQ+ identified colleagues by at least 3%.
  • Improve the UK pay gap by a minimum of 10% annually.

“To redefine inclusion, we need to be brave, reflective, and relentlessly pursue a better way – and our Board, leaders and people are committed to just that,” said Mark Reynolds, Mace Group chair and chief executive.

“This strategy is our guide to help us evolve in the direction of our purpose and ambition together. We look forward to the journey ahead,” he concluded.
