RICS have held their Matrics yearly awards, with Lauren Lemcke, a senior project surveyor for AECOM, winning two of the eleven awards
Lemcke has received both the Matrics Surveyor of the Year award as well as the Construction Surveyor of the Year award.
The awards are intended to honour the achievements of up-and-coming surveyors.
Most of the winners this year were women
Across the 11 categories, six of the winners were women in the 2024 awards, in spite of the fact that they make up just 18% of surveyors in the UK.
Lemcke attended the University College of Estate Management, where she graduated with a master’s degree in quantity surveying, before working for MGAC, a project, cost, and construction management consulting firm.
Earlier this year she joined the London office for AECOM as a senior project surveyor.
In her role, Lemcke led the cost consultant services on significant Grade II listed heritage projects such as restoring Madeira Terraces and the Grand Hotel along Brighton’s seafront.
She has also implemented a new carbon-assessment as part of her career as a construction lifecycle assessment specialist and BREEAM associate, and has trained cost consultants in implementing RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment.
The awards put the spotlight on surveyors at all points of their career
