Architects, specifiers, and builders working on renovations and extensions must address changing Building Regulations, the impact of extreme temperatures on occupants, and construction time efficiency. Many are finding that the Actis Hybrid range and the new two-in-one Eolis HC meet all these needs
Indeed, the fruits of some of their labours are even gaining prime time TV coverage.
In recent years, no fewer than three of the projects featured in George Clarke’s Old House New Home and Remarkable Renovations TV series have been insulated with such materials – a coach house conversion in Staffordshire, a Northamptonshire village school and an Edwardian semi in Hove.
“With Part O of the Building Regulations obliging architects to limit unwanted solar gains and provide a way to remove heat from residential dwellings, the Hybrid range and Eolis HC have an important role to play in helping buildings stay cool, with Eolis HC reflecting 95% of infrared radiation.”
‘Lightweight and easy to use’
Owner of the Hove property, Jasmin Robertson, said: “The Actis products were lightweight and easy to use. Due to being easy to cut to size and install, the contractors were able to get this part of the job done in really good time. I can vouch for the fact that the Actis products do the job well. Even during the cold winter of 2020-21, we didn’t need to turn on the radiators in the loft.”
Between them, they have used the full gamut of the Hybrid range – honeycomb-style insulation Hybris, Europe’s only C2C Certified® reflective insulation, insulating breather membrane Boost R Hybrid and Boost R Hybrid Roof and insulating vapour control layer H Control Hybrid.
Builders are using Eolis HC for insulation
Builders are also turning to Actis’ newest product, Eolis HC, a revolutionary time-saving two-in-one insulation poised to transform the loft and barn conversion sector.
Designed to enable builders and roofers to reduce the number of steps required to achieve an impressive U-value, it removes the need to cut insulation between each rafter, a tricky and dusty task if using PIR board.
Eolis HC provides an easy installation process
Time trials show that when insulating across timbers, using Eolis HC is at least twice as quick as using PIR board.
Kent builder Alan Downes says: “The thing that makes Eolis especially good for loft conversions is its flexibility and the ease of installation, particularly over pitched roof angles, allowing for a really professional seal of insulation across the roof space.”
