Modular building specialist, M-AR has secured a second MMC factory to support its growing order book

Securing a new 100,000 sq ft MMC factory at Freightliner Road in Hull will accelerate M-AR’s ability to deliver the much-needed homes across the UK.

Combined with its existing MMC factory at Melton, M-AR’s production capacity will triple and will enable them to manufacture and deliver over 750 homes per annum, ramping up to 1,000 within 2 years.

M-AR has additional plans to outgrow these facilities further.

The expansion plans follow a string of key framework and contract wins such as appointment onto –  LHC (MB1 & NH2), CCS (RM6014), CHIC (Central Housing Investment Consortium) 15 year £573m Housing programme and the £400m Procure Plus offsite housing framework.

M-AR is expected to create over 100 new jobs and invest further in providing training and skills for local people.

A key focus of M-AR’s recent growth has been through its turnkey modular housing offering, where it delivers mortgageable BOPAS accredited, low carbon homes constructed primarily of light gauge steel.

‘Delivering much needed, energy efficient housing’

Rob Grimbleby, managing director of M-AR, said: “Expanding our manufacturing operation is a key strategic milestone for us and is testament to our great people and our partners, many of whom have worked alongside us for many years.

Modern Methods of Construction provides a route to increase the supply of high-quality buildings around the country, and it’s been great to see recent announcements from the government in support of the offsite sector.

“We are proud to be opening our second factory in the UK in delivering much needed, energy efficient housing that assists housing associations, registered providers, local authorities and our developer partners to respond to the current housing shortage.

“Indeed, the unique challenges of Covid-19 and the housing crisis will see an acceleration in new forms of delivery, and we are well placed to help customer’s deliver turnkey projects.

“Enquiries remain strong across all our market sectors, and we are particularly excited about the housing sector, where we feel we have the right skills and approaches to provide best value to our new and existing customers.”
