As the Voice of Commercial Modular Construction™, MBI’s mission is to expand the use of offsite construction through innovative construction practices, outreach and education to the construction community and customers, and recognition of high-quality modular designs and facilities.

What is modular construction?
Modular is a process in which a building is constructed off-site, under controlled plant conditions, using the same materials and designing to the same codes and standards as conventionally-built facilities – but in about half the time.
Buildings are produced in “modules” that when put together on site, reflect the identical design intent and specifications of the most sophisticated site-built facility – without compromise.
Why build modular?
According to a 2020 survey by Dodge Data & Analytics, seven specific aspects of construction project delivery have been positively impacted through the use of modular construction.
At the top of the list were improvements to productivity, quality, and schedule certainty. Beside these benefits, modular projects also boast a higher ROI, less material waste during construction, and fewer delays.
In fact, according to a National Institute of Building Sciences report, “Compared with traditional construction, permanent modular projects have statistically fewer change orders, which makes the design/construction process go smoother and faster.”
