Low-carbon modular housebuilder, Lighthouse, has become the newest member of the modular housing trade body, Make UK Modular
Make UK Modular, ‘the voice of the UK’s modular housing manufacturers’, has a 30 for 30 mission to enable the modular housing sector to deliver 30,000 modular homes annually by 2030.
The trade body recently published its 2022 Make UK Modular Y1 Impact Report, which showed that in its first year of operation, it met with more than 20 MPs and Peers to substantially increase political awareness of modular housing.
The appointment of Lighthouse will enable Make UK Modular to continue its growth
The addition of modular housebuilder Lighthouse will help Make UK Modular continue its rapid growth. Lighthouse manufactures timber volumetric modular houses and apartments on production lines in its Sheffield facility and employs over 100 people.
Innovative, sustainable modular housing delivered at scale
Steve Cole, director of Make UK Modular, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lighthouse to Make UK Modular. Lighthouse’s low-carbon timber-based system is precisely the sort of innovative, sustainable product modular housing can deliver at scale.
“Lighthouse’s inclusion on the recently announced OSHA Framework highlights the ambition of the business and their strong growth potential following delivery on schemes around the UK over the last two years. The modular industry needs ambitious and innovative businesses like Lighthouse to thrive. I, and all our members, are already working closely with their team.”
‘Advancing the delivery of sustainable, high-quality homes’
Tom White, CEO of Lighthouse, added:“Joining Make UK Modular is an important step for Lighthouse as we continue to scale our innovative business. With modular housebuilding taking an increasingly important role in the UK, we are committed to advancing the delivery of sustainable, high-quality homes, whilst accelerating the pace of development to help address the nation’s housing needs.”
