The company behind the “UK’s first certified Passivhaus build system”, Beattie Passive, has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator

Beattie Passive will file for administration after over a decade of promoting sustainable, modular construction solutions.

The news will come as a shock to many, as last year, Beattie Passive was on a recruitment drive to fill 150 roles at its offsite manufacturing facility in Norwich.

The firm was founded more than 10 years ago by Passivhaus pioneer and environmentalist Ron Beattie. According to the website, the firm has built over 500 energy efficient low and net zero-carbon homes.

After creating the Passivhaus build system, Ron Beattie said:

“I wanted to bring about change in every sector. There’s no point having a build system that cannot be used for any building shape or size. It had to be suitable for the construction of schools, offices, and homes.”

Recent projects delivered by Beattie Passive include the UK’s first large-scale demountable and relocatable modular net zero housing development, offering a solution for homeless families in Cardiff and multiple social housing retrofits.

Beattie Passive had also secured a spot on LHC’s £600m modern methods of construction framework for new home building.

In the line with Beattie Passive’s administration filing, the fate of other projects is unknown.
