The NHS modular buildings framework has been expanded to cover new sectors, which will double the expected workload over the next four years to £3.6bn

The rebooted NHS modular buildings framework will include a hybrid construction/modular lot, with the general construction works representing more than £60m of the project’s total value.

Anticipated is the attraction of joint venture bids from leading modular specialists akin to those effectively employed by Kier and McAvoy in the previous year’s Crown Commercial Services deal.

What does the framework cover?

The NHS Framework Agreement covers the purchase, hire or lease of modular design solutions, including:

  • Purchase, Hire and Lease
  • Healthcare-specific solutions and providers
  • Education-specific solutions and providers
  • Residential-specific solutions and providers
  • Catering-specific solutions and providers
  • Bespoke solutions

New sectors will be introduced

Moreover, the lotting structure for the NHS SBS, incorporating local authorities, will introduce residential and blue light sectors.

This revised arrangement will take effect upon the expiration of the existing deal in 2025. Since its inception, the existing framework has seen the withdrawal or collapse of eight firms out of the original 29 selected companies.
