Julie Crawford will lead Galliford Try‘s Highways team as national highways director, responsible for the Group’s strategic relationship with National Highways
In her new role as director of Galliford Try’s Highways division, Julie will continue to develop the Group’s key strategic relationship with National Highways, ensuring alignment with their key priorities and objectives.
Julie brings over 15 years’ experience in overseeing programme management operations, as well as developing and implementing strategic policies, plans and roadmaps to meet customer needs and drive organisational performance.
Julie’s previous positions include senior roles at National Highways when it was known as Highways England and most recently sponsorship director at HS2.
Julie Crawford joins several women in senior roles at Galliford Try
Julie becomes the fourth woman to sit on the Highways business’s Senior Leadership team, joining local authority director Liz Bell, pre-construction director Alison Chippington and HR lead Martha Splevings, reflecting Galliford Try’s culture, approach and commitment to increasing the representation of women in construction.
Galliford Try’s Highways business has recently broadened its offering within three streams comprising National Highways, Local Authorities and Major Projects.
The latter of these forms the delivery route for large-scale projects exceeding £100m, such as the recently announced project to design and build the £140m Carlisle Southern Link Road.
David Lowery, managing director of Galliford Try’s Highways business, said: “This is a really exciting period for our Highways business, and I am delighted to welcome Julie, with her extensive client-side experience, to our team. We have a high-quality order book, bolstered by number of recent opportunities and I look forward to working with Julie and her counterparts in Local Authorities and Major Projects, as we deliver on our ambition.”
Galliford Try’s Asset Intelligence business has also been recognised at the British Security Awards
As Galliford Try’s highways business increases, their Asset Intelligence division has received five nominations following last year’s win in the Environmental Project category, where their collaboration with the Met Office in “decarbonising electronic security installations through innovation” was praised.
The business has been shortlisted in the categories for Large Business of the Year, Installer of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility, EDI Champion, and National Partnership.
The awards ceremony will take place in London in June, and is organised by the British Security Industry Association.
Uzair Osman, managing director for Asset Intelligence, commented: “The past 12 months has been a really successful period for our business. I am delighted that our efforts have been recognised by the industry in this way. I congratulate the team for these nominations, and we will all have our fingers crossed for the business’ success in June.”
