BAM, Morgan Sindall, Bouygues, and GRAHAM have all won lots totalling over £4m on the fifth generation of the Southern Construction Framework(SCF 5)
Operating across Greater London, the South East and South West of England, the four-year Southern Construction Framework governs projects with an estimated total value of £4.5bn, to be launched in May 2023.
This will be the fifth generation of SCF, which was first established in 2006. To date it has procured over £8bn of construction activity.
The framework aims to deliver public sector construction and development in the region, across all sectors including education, health, local authority and leisure developments to name a few. Available to all public bodies in the regions listed, the lots include:
- Lot 1 – South West England – for projects with a value of £4m plus
- Lot 2 – South East England – for projects with a value of £4m plus
- Lot 3 – London – for projects with a value of £4m plus
- Lot 4 – West Region of SW England – for projects with a value of £1m to £5m (a new lot for the framework)
- Lot 5 – East Region of SW England – for projects with a value of £1m to £5m (also a new lot)
Social value and carbon reduction are priorities for SCF 5
For its fifth generation, SCF has chosen contractors that can demonstrate exemplary carbon benchmarking assessment for all builds and has prioritised carbon retrofit capabilities as part of its industry-leading carbon and social value targets.
SCF is the market leader in Two Stage Open Book project delivery, under which the framework will operate exclusively. This Government-recommended delivery method is part of an initiative to reform UK construction practices and is unique in the way it brings the contractor, stakeholders and suppliers together at the very start of a construction project.
It has a strong focus on improved building operational outcomes, sustainability and working towards Net Zero Carbon targets.
The winning contractors for the South West £4m+ lots also include Bouygues UK, Galliford Try Construction, ISG Construction, John Graham Construction, Kier Construction, Stepnell, Tilbury Douglas, VINCI Construction, Wates Construction and Willmott Dixon Construction.
Morgan Sindall has previously completed 168 projects with the SCF
