Architectural Glass and Aluminium Limited (ARGLA) has entered administration, with all 43 employees left jobless
Glazing and aluminium facade specialist ARGLA has fallen into administration.
Gareth Harries and Lee Lockwood from RSM Restructuring Advisory were appointed as joint administrators earlier this month.
The collapse will come as a shock to many, as ARGLA had enjoyed a significant expansion in the last few years, doubling the workforce and relocating to a larger manufacturing premises in Jade Business Park in Murton in 2021.
The firm specialised in architectural facades for commercial clients
Recently completed projects include facades on two buildings for GMI Construction Group at the Integra 61 warehouse/logistics complex in Bowburn, as well as the Madeira embroidery store in Ripon[pictured above].
Ongoing work included a residential block in Dingwall Road, Croydon, and the Colchester Northern Gateway leisure centre in Essex.
In its most recent accounts for the 15-month period to 30 September 2022, ARGLA reported net assets of £741,000 compared with net liabilities of £940,000 in its previous financial year.
ARGLA’s fall into administration was swift
Gareth Harris commented that the administrators were called in “at very short notice…which is always more difficult.”
He went on to say: “At that point, in the absence of any funding being available, we made all the staff redundant. We’re just trying to realise as much as we can of the assets for the creditors and trying where we can to transfer [in-progress] contracts.”
