MCD Utility Solutions is accredited under LRQA and holds NERS, WIRS & GIRS design accreditations, which enable the wide scope of utility infrastructure design services.
In addition to design services, MCD also offers a wide variety of support/consultancy services at any stage of the project, ranging from initial feasibility studies to understanding
the abnormal utility costs to offset against the land acquisition to final adoption/handover to the adopting asset owners.

The utility industry can be challenging, with several layers of red tape to wade through. With our experience in the industry, our aim is to keep focused and deliver a simplified approach concentrating on the key areas of the project to reduce the red tape to our clients, which we deal with on their behalf.
The utility industry is rapidly evolving and at MCD, we keep abreast of all the recent/forthcoming changes within the industry across all utility sectors. The EV
market is now really starting to gather pace and we are proud to support a major partner delivering the design aspect of EV car charging infrastructure across the UK in service stations/fuel filling stations forecourts.
We have undertaken a large number of utility design projects in under two years of
receiving our accreditations following the lengthy process of setting up the company
prior to the commencement of trading.
The type of projects that we have worked on range from high-rise city centre student
accommodation to large-scale residential projects, large-scale industrial and commercial
projects with multiple substations, EV infrastructure, battery storage, PV, gas peaking
plants, and diversion/disconnection of existing utility infrastructure.
We are excited to announce we have won our first primary substation project, which we will use to enhance our NERS accreditation design scope up to and including 33kV.
Tailoring utility infrastructure to our clients’ needs
Our project involvement depends on the requirements of each individual client; our involvement can begin at any stage from inception through to completion, supported by the additional technical advisory services that we offer. Our services could be as little as
a point of connection application to the incumbent network owner or a full detailed design of complex utility infrastructure networks.
Due to the recent reduction in residential projects having new gas networks with the 2025 deadline rapidly approaching and alternative methods of electric heating being used, such as air source heat pumps, there is a massive discrepancy of loadings being applied, resulting in oversized utility infrastructure.
At MCD we will ascertain the requirements and will apply the realistic after-diversity maximum demands to the project, which will mean that the utility networks are sized correctly and not over-engineered at the expense of the end user.
