Sir Robert McAlpine generated nearly £32m in social impact for Manchester and the North West region during the development of Co-op Academy Belle Vue, according to social and economic value report
Delivered by Sir Robert McAlpine, the 1,200 place Co-op Academy Belle Vue welcomed its first cohort of pupils in September 2022.
During construction, Sir Robert McAlpine and its supply chain partners worked to create new jobs, apprenticeships, host T-Level and work experience and support local community groups.
Social Return on Investment (SROI) is achieved through the delivery of social value key performance indicator targets.
SROI targets for Co-op Academy Belle Vue included:
- Jobs created
- Apprenticeships supported
- T-level students hosted
- Work experience offered
- Charities and community groups engaged.
To help close the construction skills shortage, 8 T-Level students were supported, and 16 work experience placements were offered across the project.
Sir Robert McAlpine and supply chain partners also hosted 18 apprenticeships, 34% of whom were from Manchester City Council postcodes.
The Co-op Academy Belle Vue Social and Economic Impact Report also revealed that the project helped to raise £9,648 through charity work, and 58 new jobs were created, 43% of which were from Manchester City Council postcodes.
