Vistry Cotswolds has acquired land to deliver a further 150 new homes in Quedgeley on the former RAF airbase near Gloucester
The 14.3-acre site already has outline planning permission for 150 new homes, including 120 properties for private sale and 30 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.
Regeneration of the RAF Quedgeley site – Kingsway Village
Vistry is now preparing to submit detailed plans for the design and layout of the development to Gloucester City Council. If approved, construction work could begin on the site this autumn.
The new homes will be built and sold under Vistry’s Linden Homes brand and will form part of the wider regeneration of the old RAF Quedgeley site, known as Kingsway Village.
Delivering much-needed new homes in Quedgeley
The site is located to the north of Rudloe Drive, opposite the Green Oaks development where Vistry is currently developing 80 properties.
Hayley Ody, acting regional sales and marketing director at Vistry Cotswolds, said:
“Following the success of our Green Oaks development, where construction work is now in its final stages, we are pleased to acquire this adjacent parcel of land which will enable us to continue delivering much-needed new homes for the area.
Houses designed to meet the needs of buyers at various stages
“The new site will represent a seamless extension to Green Oaks, with a similar mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses designed to meet the needs of buyers at various stages of the property ladder. As well as building 120 houses for private sale, we will also be providing 30 affordable homes for local people through shared ownership or rent.
“We are currently finalising our plans for the development with a view to submitting a detailed planning application to the local authority in May.
“Residents at this new site off Rudloe Drive will be part of an established and thriving community which has steadily grown over the past decade and a half.
“The primary schools, shops, pubs and community facilities which have been delivered during this period have made the neighbourhood an extremely attractive one to housebuyers in the Gloucester area, particularly families.
“Considering the high demand we have experienced for the properties at Green Oaks, we are anticipating a similar level of interest in this latest phase of development.”
