Planning permission for the Bracebridge Heath development includes bringing 1,087 homes, a residential care home and new transport links to Lincoln
A new development in Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln, has recieved planning permission for a mixed-use community creating affordable homes, public spaces and new transport links.
The development plans come via the Church Commissioners for England, as part of the Archbishops’ Housing, Church and Community Commission’s vision for more affordable homes and community spaces.
Around 217 of the new homes will be affordable
Three miles south of Lincoln, the 44-hectare plan includes infrastructure for new and existing residents and a mix of bungalows and two and three storey homes.
Of the 1,087 homes planned, 20% will be affordable, which supports Central Lincolnshire’s wider aims of increasing housing in the wider area by over 30,000.
New footpath and cycle links will improve accessibility to Lincoln city centre and local countryside, including a direct connection to the new Lincoln Eastern Bypass.
New community spaces in the Bracebridge Heath development include a ‘mobility hub’
New transport services such as electric vehicle charging points, Park and Bike services and delivery lockers will function in the site’s ‘mobility hub’, as well as connecting with local bus services.
A new sustainable urban drainage scheme will reduce surface water in the development and landscaping zones have been strategically placed around the site to reduce visual and acoustic disturbance.
New amenities will be accompanied by new open spaces, including sports facilities and play areas for children.
Building a sustainable community
“Our plans for Bracebridge Heath will create a vibrant new community in the Lincoln area, in line with the vision set out in the local plan for new high-quality places to live,” said Matthew Naylor, strategic land principal manager at the Church Commissioners for England.
“Retirement housing will provide much-needed places for seniors to live, while a new mobility hub will give residents sustainable transport options that encourage connectivity both within Bracebridge Heath and across Lincoln.”
